#7 of 7 hotels in Greenlane & Ellerslie by Axel's take. Greenlane & Ellerslie is #9 of 10 places to stay in Auckland. The best hotels in Greenlane & Ellerslie, ranked · Where to stay in Auckland

Axel's take: 7.2/10

A practical budget stop with friendly hosts, but check the room details carefully. A no-frills budget motel near Ellerslie, scored for what it is.

Greenlane Motel is a no-frills budget motel, best treated as a practical overnight base rather than a holiday hotel. We'd consider it for a stadium event or a short work trip: Ellerslie station is within walking distance, and Booking.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise helpful hosts, clean rooms and comfortable beds. Free parking and Wi-Fi add useful value.

The compromises are worth checking before booking. Budget rooms share bathrooms; Deluxe rooms have their own. Recent guests on Trip.com describe tight parking, dated decor and some nighttime noise, while a 2025 guest reported an uncomfortably hot room without air-conditioning; the official site lists fans and heaters. We'd skip it for a quiet, polished retreat, and confirm cooling, parking and any advertised breakfast directly.

Best for: Budget-conscious stadium visitors; Short work trips; Travelers happy with basic facilities
Watch out for: Shared bathrooms in budget rooms; Tight parking and possible nighttime noise; Confirm air-conditioning and breakfast
Location: Walkable to Ellerslie station and convenient for stadium visits and motorway access.
Rooms: Basic accommodation; Deluxe rooms have private bathrooms, while budget rooms share facilities.
Cleanliness: Generally praised on Booking.com and Expedia, despite some older negative reports.
Service: Friendly, accommodating hosts are a consistent strength across booking sites.
Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, shared kitchen and laundry facilities; official room details list fans and heaters.
Fees and surprises: Parking is free but reportedly constrained; confirm breakfast availability and late-arrival arrangements.
