Hotels in Atlantic CityA mid-range Boardwalk hotel in a former casino, focused on family entertainment
6.2/10
Showboat delivers family entertainment and beach access, but the hotel itself is uneven.
Showboat is a mid-range hotel in a former casino, now built around family entertainment rather than gambling. The Boardwalk location, beach access, Lucky Snake arcade and Island Waterpark are its strongest reasons to book. Recent Expedia guests often praise helpful staff and spacious, clean rooms, but Tripadvisor and Booking.com-linked reviews show a less consistent picture. It's a reasonable pick for an activity-heavy family break, not a dependable choice for hotel comfort alone.
Recurring complaints concern dated furnishings, dirty carpets, room maintenance and slow problem handling. The hotel confirms its regular guest pool is closed; Island Waterpark is separate, so check admission inclusions. Resort fees and paid parking also deserve attention. Evolution's second-floor studio build-out was reported in 2026; confirm current disruption before booking. We'd skip it for a quiet couples' escape or reliably polished rooms.

Best for: families prioritizing arcades and waterpark visits; beachgoers wanting direct Boardwalk access
Watch out for: uneven cleanliness and room maintenance; closed regular guest pool; resort fee, paid parking and attraction admission
Location: Directly on the Boardwalk, with the beach outside and neighboring casinos within walking distance.
Rooms: Often spacious, but condition varies; dated furniture and broken fixtures recur in reviews.
Cleanliness: Many guests report clean rooms, but dirty carpets, odors and inadequate cleaning remain recurring complaints.
Service: Helpful individual staff receive praise; responsiveness and problem resolution are inconsistent.
Amenities: Arcade, waterpark and 24-hour gym; no public casino, and the regular guest pool is closed.
Fees and surprises: Resort fee, deposit and paid parking; confirm waterpark inclusion and current Evolution studio construction impacts.
