Axel's take: 7.2/10
A practical Boardwalk base, but choose the renovated Bally’s Tower over the older rooms. A mid-range casino hotel on the Atlantic City Boardwalk, scored for what it is.
Bally’s is a mid-range casino hotel whose biggest advantage is its central Boardwalk location, with the beach outside and restaurants, bars and gambling downstairs. It’s a good pick for an adult getaway if you book a renovated Bally’s Tower room rather than expect every room to match the newer photos. Recent Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean, spacious rooms, helpful staff and good value; Tripadvisor and Booking.com present a more mixed overall picture.
The trade-off is consistency: older Dennis Tower rooms draw more criticism, and housekeeping and maintenance complaints recur alongside positive reports. Smoking is permitted in parts of the casino and designated bedrooms, so this is not a smoke-free property. The hotel lists pool and fitness access for ages 21-plus, Thursday through Sunday only; the hot tubs are currently closed. Resort fees and parking charges also matter. We’d skip it for a polished resort experience or a family pool holiday.
-
Best for: Value-minded casino weekends; Adults wanting central Boardwalk access; Travelers booking renovated Bally’s Tower rooms
-
Watch out for: Uneven room condition and housekeeping; Smoking areas and smoking-room categories; Adults-only pool with limited opening days; hot tubs closed
-
Location: Direct Boardwalk and beach access, within walking distance of Boardwalk Hall.
-
Rooms: Renovated Bally’s Tower rooms are the stronger choice; Dennis Tower feedback is less consistent.
-
Cleanliness: Recent Expedia praise is encouraging, but other sites report recurring housekeeping lapses.
-
Service: Helpful staff receive frequent praise, though problem handling is not uniformly reliable.
-
Amenities: Casino, restaurants and bars; pool and fitness listed Thursday–Sunday for ages 21-plus.
-
Fees and surprises: Nightly resort and statutory fees, an incidental card hold and generally paid parking; hot tubs closed.
