#1 of 9 hotels in Omonia & Metaxourgeio by Axel's take. Omonia & Metaxourgeio is #6 of 9 places to stay in Athens. The best hotels in Omonia & Metaxourgeio, ranked · Where to stay in Athens
Axel's take: 8.6/10
Warm service and playful rooms make this a strong city base, with some rough edges. a colorful, casual 4-star boutique hotel near Exarcheia, scored for what it is.
COLORS is a casual 4-star boutique hotel near Exarcheia, not a polished luxury retreat. We'd pick it for its welcoming staff, playful design and practical family-room options. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the helpful reception team, comfortable rooms and breakfast, especially the coffee. With metro stations and the National Archaeological Museum within walking distance, it's a strong base for exploring Athens beyond the main tourist streets.
The trade-offs are the immediate surroundings and uneven room upkeep. Several guests find the neighborhood run-down or uncomfortable after dark, while others enjoy its cafés and restaurants. Reviews also flag occasional drain smells, worn finishes and corridor or plumbing noise. Request a quiet room away from the lift, and check your room category carefully. We'd skip it if you want immaculate four-star polish or a postcard-pretty setting.
-

Service: The clearest strength: guests consistently praise welcoming staff and practical help.
-
