Axel's take: 9.0/10

Clever lofts and genuinely useful shared spaces make Zoku a strong longer-stay pick. a design-led 4-star aparthotel built around working and longer stays, scored for what it is.

Zoku is a design-led 4-star aparthotel that makes particular sense if Amsterdam is somewhere you’ll work as well as explore. Its Lofts combine proper kitchens, dining tables and living space, while the rooftop brings together coworking, terraces, a restaurant and bar. Expedia and Agoda guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, cleanliness and the useful communal spaces; Booking.com’s strong ratings back up that picture. The hotel refreshed its rooftop in April 2025.

The compromises are mostly about fit. Loft beds require climbing retractable stairs, and the smaller Rooms lack kitchens, so choose carefully. Housekeeping is weekly by default, though Zoku says extra cleaning is free on request. Breakfast draws praise but also complaints about cost, and the tourist core is a walk rather than right outside. We’d skip the standard Loft if easy, step-free bed access matters.

• Best for: remote workers and business travelers; couples wanting self-catering; longer city stays

• Watch out for: stairs to the Loft beds; smaller Rooms have no kitchen; weekly rather than daily housekeeping

• Location: About four minutes from Weesperplein metro; expect a walk to the busiest sightseeing streets.

• Rooms: Well-equipped Lofts start at 24 square meters; smaller Rooms offer a different, kitchen-free setup.

• Cleanliness: Strong guest feedback across sites; additional cleaning is free on request beyond the weekly schedule.

• Service: Helpful, welcoming staff are a consistent strength in recent guest reviews.

• Amenities: Rooftop coworking, terraces, restaurant and bar; the rooftop renovation was completed in April 2025.

• Fees and surprises: Budget for breakfast unless included, paid parking and city tax; check your room type before booking.
