A comfortable, good-value base if you’re happy taking transit into central Amsterdam. a practical 4-star in Amsterdam West, outside the canal centre, scored for what it is.

XO Hotels Park West is a practical 4-star that makes a strong case for staying outside Amsterdam’s canal centre. Recent Expedia and Trip.com guests repeatedly praise spacious rooms, comfortable beds and helpful reception staff; cleanliness is generally a strength. With a tram stop outside and Sloterdijk station roughly 10–15 minutes away on foot, it’s a good-value choice for sightseeing without paying mainly for a central address.

The trade-offs are a less atmospheric setting and some wear: corridor upkeep and stained carpets crop up across review sites, alongside occasional housekeeping misses. Breakfast gets mostly positive feedback, but recent guests confirm there’s no lunch or dinner restaurant, and the hotel serves no alcohol. We’d skip it if canal-side wandering, nightlife on the doorstep or polished four-star surroundings matter most.

• Best for: value-minded couples comfortable using transit; families wanting triple or quadruple rooms; travelers using Sloterdijk station

• Watch out for: outside the walk-everywhere historic centre; some worn carpets and uneven housekeeping; no lunch or dinner restaurant; no alcohol served

• Location: Tram stop outside; Sloterdijk is roughly a 10–15-minute walk, but the canal centre is not on the doorstep.

• Rooms: Guests frequently praise room size, comfortable beds and good showers; some carpets and corridors show wear.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback, tempered by scattered recent housekeeping misses and complaints about hallway cleanliness.

• Service: Reception staff are widely praised as friendly, helpful and quick to resolve problems; reception operates around the clock.

• Amenities: Buffet breakfast, free Wi-Fi, in-room coffee machines, bike rental and EV charging; no lunch or dinner restaurant.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast and parking cost extra; parking cannot be reserved, cash is not accepted, and no alcohol is served.
