Axel's take: 8.8/10

Sir Adam delivers character and river views, with compact rooms as the main compromise. a music-themed 4-star design hotel in Amsterdam’s A’DAM Tower, scored for what it is.

Sir Adam is a music-themed 4-star design hotel in A’DAM Tower, and a strong pick for travelers who prefer personality to traditional polish. In-room record players, industrial interiors and playful elevators give it genuine character. Expedia and Trip.com guests repeatedly praise the welcoming staff, comfortable beds and cleanliness. The Noord location works surprisingly well: a free, round-the-clock ferry puts Central Station just across the water. Book a city-view category if the skyline is part of the appeal.

The main compromise is space: smaller rooms draw recurring complaints, and glass showers in some categories will not suit every room-sharing arrangement. Some recent guests also report overly warm rooms; occasional bass from the building’s nightlife is another consideration, rather than a universal problem. We’d skip it if generous space, bathroom privacy or a conventional, hushed hotel atmosphere matters most.

  • Best for: couples who like music and design; city breaks arriving by train; travelers seeking river views

  • Watch out for: compact rooms and glass showers in some categories; reports of overly warm rooms; occasional nightlife bass

  • Location: Amsterdam Noord waterfront, a short walk from the free 24/7 ferry to Central Station.

  • Rooms: Comfortable beds and record players; smaller categories can feel cramped, so choose size and view carefully.

  • Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback, supported by high cleanliness ratings on Expedia and Booking.com.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a consistent strength, though occasional reception delays are reported.

  • Amenities: Gym, vinyl library and THE BUTCHER Social Club; tower lookout and swing access cost extra.

  • Fees and surprises: Budget for paid parking, breakfast unless included, tourist tax and an incidental deposit.
