A friendly Oud-West base, provided you choose your room carefully. A simple 2-star neighborhood hotel in Amsterdam’s Oud-West, scored for what it is.

Hotel Heye 130 is a simple 2-star neighborhood hotel, and we’d pick it for exploring Amsterdam rather than spending much time indoors. Booking.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the helpful staff, comfortable beds and generally clean rooms. Oud-West’s cafés and restaurants are a strong draw, with Vondelpark nearby and trams connecting you to the center. The hotel advertises refurbished rooms, but the appeal remains practical comfort, not luxury.

Room choice matters: the hotel lists budget doubles at just 11 square meters, and guests flag cramped bathrooms and limited luggage space. Air-conditioning is room-dependent; Deluxe doubles explicitly include it, while recent guests in other categories report uncomfortable summer heat. Some reviews also mention noise and wet bathroom floors after showering. It’s a strong pick for a short, neighborhood-focused stay; skip the smallest categories if space or summer cooling matters.

• Best for: Couples packing light; Solo city explorers; Travelers who prefer neighborhood cafés

• Watch out for: Very compact budget rooms and bathrooms; Air-conditioning not included in every category; Occasional noise and shower drainage complaints

• Location: Restaurant-filled Oud-West, near Vondelpark and tram stops rather than in the historic center.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds and refreshed décor; size and air-conditioning vary substantially by category.

• Cleanliness: Generally praised across sites, with occasional housekeeping and bathroom-maintenance complaints.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are the most consistent strength; reception operates around the clock.

• Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, a lift, luggage storage, bicycle rental and a café serving drinks and pastries.

• Fees and surprises: No onsite parking; check city-tax inclusion, cot charges and room-specific cooling before booking.
