Axel's take: 8.2/10

A dependable Amsterdam base if you don't mind commuting to the center. a modern, limited-service 3-star high-rise in Amsterdam Noord, scored for what it is.

This modern 3-star high-rise in Amsterdam Noord is a strong pick for straightforward comfort rather than canal-side atmosphere. Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise clean rooms, comfortable beds and helpful staff; upper-floor views add something extra to an otherwise practical chain hotel. Included breakfast makes it a good-value base, and the restaurant and bar are useful when you want an easy evening.

The main compromise is location: sightseeing means walking to the metro or a free ferry, rather than stepping straight into the historic center. Recent guests generally like breakfast, though some describe a busy, slightly chaotic buffet. Parking and bringing a dog cost extra. We'd choose it for a comfortable city break with transport built in, but skip it if doorstep sightseeing or boutique character matters most.

• Best for: value-minded city-break travelers; families comfortable using public transport; visitors exploring Amsterdam Noord

• Watch out for: walk plus metro or ferry to the historic center; busy breakfast periods; parking and dog fees

• Location: In Amsterdam Noord; roughly a 10-minute walk to Noorderpark metro, with free ferry options also nearby.

• Rooms: Modern, practical rooms with comfortable beds; guests particularly appreciate higher-floor views.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Booking.com, Expedia and Trip.com feedback.

• Service: Recent guests repeatedly praise friendly, helpful reception staff.

• Amenities: Included breakfast, free Wi-Fi, restaurant, bar and paid bicycle hire; no pool.

• Fees and surprises: On-site parking is paid and subject to availability; dogs attract a nightly fee.
