A strong event-night base, less compelling for a canal-side city break. A practical 3-star hotel in Amsterdam’s arena and business district, scored for what it is.

This is a practical 3-star Holiday Inn Express, and we’d pick it for concerts, football or business in Amsterdam Southeast. Johan Cruijff ArenA, Ziggo Dome and AFAS Live are within walking distance, while nearby Bijlmer ArenA station makes trips into central Amsterdam straightforward. Recent Expedia and Trip.com guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, comfortable rooms and the included breakfast. It delivers the useful basics without much fuss.

The main compromise is location: you’re staying in a business-and-entertainment district, not among the canals. Room feedback is mostly positive, but several recent guests flag worn furnishings and uneven cleaning, so don’t expect immaculate interiors throughout. Parking is expensive, and sharing a building with the separate Holiday Inn can make arrival confusing. We’d skip it if central sightseeing and neighborhood atmosphere matter more than venue access.

• Best for: Concert-goers and football fans; Business travelers in Amsterdam Southeast; Sightseers comfortable using public transport

• Watch out for: Outside the historic center; Some room wear and cleaning inconsistencies; Expensive on-site parking

• Location: Walkable to major venues; Bijlmer ArenA station is roughly seven to ten minutes away.

• Rooms: Simple, generally comfortable rooms with walk-in showers; some guests report tired furnishings.

• Cleanliness: Mostly positive feedback, with a recurring minority reporting dust or stained carpets.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a consistent strength across recent guest reviews.

• Amenities: Continental breakfast and Wi-Fi included; IHG lists a 24-hour gym, and there is no pool.

• Fees and surprises: Parking costs extra; the separate Holiday Inn shares the building, so check reception signs.
