Axel's take: 8.8/10

A strong airport overnight, with quiet rooms and no shuttle hassle. an upscale, full-service airport hotel connected to Schiphol, scored for what it is.

This upscale, full-service airport Hilton is a strong pick before an early flight or between connections. Its covered terminal link removes the shuttle gamble, while Booking.com, Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise quiet, comfortable rooms, cleanliness and helpful staff. Breakfast is another consistent strength. We'd choose it for a proper night's rest rather than just somewhere to wait for a flight.

The trade-off is that you're paying for airport convenience, not an Amsterdam neighborhood. Hilton advertises a seven-minute terminal walk, but guests often suggest allowing 10–15 minutes, especially with luggage. Dining and breakfast attract complaints about cost, and parking is charged separately. The wellness water feature is described as a whirlpool, so don't book expecting a lap pool. We'd skip it for a sightseeing-focused stay unless being beside the airport matters most.

• Best for: early departures and overnight connections; business travelers; families wanting connecting rooms

• Watch out for: allow 10–15 minutes for the terminal walk; costly dining and paid parking; whirlpool rather than a lap pool

• Location: Covered access to Schiphol's terminal and railway station; convenient for flights rather than neighborhood exploring.

• Rooms: Generally spacious, comfortable and well insulated against aircraft noise; some face the internal atrium.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across sources, including recent Expedia reviews.

• Service: Usually welcoming and helpful, with occasional lapses rather than a broad pattern of poor service.

• Amenities: Restaurant, bar, gym and wellness area with whirlpool, sauna and steam room; connecting rooms available.

• Fees and surprises: Parking and pets incur charges; check whether breakfast and executive-lounge access are included.
