#7 of 9 hotels in Amsterdam Noord by Axel's take. Amsterdam Noord is #9 of 12 places to stay in Amsterdam. The best hotels in Amsterdam Noord, ranked · Where to stay in Amsterdam

Axel's take: 7.9/10

A convenient social base, but stronger on communal spaces than bedroom comfort. A large, social budget hostel across the IJ from Amsterdam Centraal, scored for what it is.

ClinkNOORD is a large budget hostel in a converted laboratory, with dorms and private rooms rather than hotel-style comforts. It’s a good pick for travelers who want company and easy sightseeing: the free, round-the-clock ferry makes Centraal convenient, while the bar, events and generous communal spaces give you reasons to mingle. Booking.com, Expedia and Trip.com guests repeatedly praise the location and helpful staff; cleanliness is generally well regarded, though bathrooms draw more mixed feedback.

The compromises are in the bedrooms: recent guests report compact layouts, warm or stuffy rooms and showers that wet the bathroom floor. Groups can make corridors noisy, and Expedia currently flags neighboring-building construction. There is no guest kitchen, despite some older listings. Dorm towels and larger luggage storage cost extra. We’d skip it for a quiet couples’ break or if cooking your own meals is essential.

  • Best for: Solo travelers wanting a social base; Friends on a sightseeing budget; Travelers arriving through Centraal

  • Watch out for: Warm, compact rooms and wet bathroom floors; Group noise and listed neighboring construction; No self-catering kitchen

  • Location: Across the IJ in Noord, with convenient access to Centraal by free 24-hour ferry.

  • Rooms: Dorms and private rooms are functional; recurring complaints concern limited space, ventilation and shower design.

  • Cleanliness: Mostly positive feedback, but bathroom cleanliness and musty smells are less consistent.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a recurring strength; reception operates around the clock.

  • Amenities: Bar, café, events, games, laundry and paid breakfast; the official site confirms no guest kitchen.

  • Fees and surprises: City tax, dorm towel rental and larger luggage storage are extra; bring a locker padlock. Expedia flags neighboring construction.
