#5 of 9 hotels in De Pijp by Axel's take. De Pijp is #6 of 12 places to stay in Amsterdam. The best hotels in De Pijp, ranked · Where to stay in Amsterdam

Axel's take: 7.7/10

A friendly hostel base with character, but noise and cramped dorms limit the appeal. A small boutique hostel with dorms and private rooms near De Pijp, scored for what it is.

ClinkCoco is a small boutique hostel, not a conventional two-star hotel. It’s a good pick for budget-minded travelers who want Dutch-themed rooms, a shared kitchen and easy access to De Pijp, canals and museums. Booking.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the welcoming staff, while the garden and communal spaces give it more personality than a basic dormitory.

The trade-offs are space and soundproofing. Recent Expedia and Agoda guests describe small dorms, noise carrying between rooms and occasional bathroom odors; cleanliness feedback is broadly positive rather than faultless. Steep stairs and no elevator also make heavy luggage a nuisance. We’d choose it for an informal city break, but skip it if uninterrupted sleep, generous room space or step-free access matter most. Arrivals after 10 p.m. need advance arrangements.

  • Best for: Budget-minded solo travelers; Couples happy with hostel-style private rooms; Travelers exploring De Pijp and museums

  • Watch out for: Thin walls and nighttime noise; Small dorms and limited storage; Steep stairs; no elevator

  • Location: Walkable to De Pijp and the Rijksmuseum, with tram stops close by.

  • Rooms: Themed private rooms and four- or six-bed dorms; space and storage can be tight.

  • Cleanliness: Generally satisfactory, with some recurring bathroom-odor and upkeep complaints.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful staff are a consistent strength; reception closes at 10 p.m.

  • Amenities: Shared kitchen, garden, terrace and Wi-Fi; a hostel setup rather than full hotel facilities.

  • Fees and surprises: City tax applies; arrivals after 10 p.m. must contact the team before 4 p.m. that day.
