A workable Noord base with helpful staff, but housekeeping needs more consistency. a no-frills 3-star in residential Amsterdam Noord, scored for what it is.

Bastion Hotel Amsterdam Noord is a no-frills 3-star that makes most sense for a short stay north of the centre. We'd consider it for practical comfort rather than Amsterdam atmosphere: recent Expedia and Booking.com guests repeatedly praise helpful staff and comfortable beds. Air conditioning, a fridge and coffee facilities cover the basics, while the bar and restaurant are useful after a day out. Noord metro station is roughly a 10–15-minute walk away.

The compromises are dated interiors, compact Comfort rooms and uneven housekeeping. Alongside plenty of clean-room reports, recent guests across several sites describe dusty floors, missed cleaning and bathroom grime. Parking and breakfast cost extra, and Hotels.com lists no lift. We'd skip it if spotless presentation, step-free access or walking straight into central Amsterdam matters more than a quieter residential base.

• Best for: short stays in Amsterdam Noord; business travelers with local plans; sightseers comfortable using public transport

• Watch out for: inconsistent housekeeping; compact, dated Comfort rooms; no lift listed

• Location: Residential Noord near the A10; allow a walk or bus connection to the metro.

• Rooms: Comfort rooms are 18 m²; Deluxe rooms offer 24 m², with air conditioning, fridges and coffee facilities.

• Cleanliness: Many guests report clean rooms, but missed cleaning and dirty floors recur in recent reviews.

• Service: Friendly, helpful reception staff are the most consistent strength, despite occasional uneven experiences.

• Amenities: Restaurant, bar, terrace, free Wi-Fi, EV charging and 24-hour reception.

• Fees and surprises: Parking and breakfast are extra; local tax applies, and Hotels.com lists no lift.
