Axel's take: 8.4/10

A strong pick for drivers, with clean rooms and personable staff. a modern 3-star highway hotel in south Albany, scored for what it is.

This modern 3-star in south Albany is a strong pick for a road-trip stop or business visit, rather than a downtown walking base. Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise clean, spacious rooms and friendly staff, with the bar team earning particular recognition. Free parking, an indoor pool, a gym and a patio firepit give it a useful edge over more basic roadside options.

The main compromise is location: downtown attractions are a drive away, and this isn't an airport hotel despite some booking-site descriptions. Breakfast costs extra, and dining is less consistent than the rooms; recent accounts range from excellent meals to slow breakfast service and an early restaurant closure. Some guests also mention noisy ventilation or imperfect soundproofing, though others report quiet stays. We'd choose it for practical comfort, but skip it for a car-free city break.

• Best for: road-trippers and overnight stops; business travelers with a car; families wanting an indoor pool

• Watch out for: driving needed for downtown sightseeing; breakfast extra; dining service can vary; occasional ventilation and soundproofing complaints

• Location: South Albany near I-87 and I-787; convenient by car, not a central sightseeing base.

• Rooms: Generally spacious, modern and comfortable; noise reports vary by guest.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent guest accounts, especially on Expedia.

• Service: Friendly front-desk and bar staff draw repeated praise; meal service is less consistent.

• Amenities: Indoor pool, fitness center, restaurant/bar, patio firepit and guest laundry.

• Fees and surprises: Self-parking is free; breakfast is not complimentary; pets are not allowed.
