Axel's take: 8.4/10

A dependable campus base with standout staff, but choose your room for quiet. a practical 3-star hotel across from the University at Albany, scored for what it is.

This 3-star Courtyard is a strong pick for University at Albany visits, business trips and an easy overnight off I-90. Its appeal is straightforward: spacious rooms, free parking and staff who repeatedly earn unusually warm praise on Tripadvisor, Booking.com and Expedia. Recent Expedia guests also consistently describe clean, comfortable accommodation. The operator advertises redesigned rooms and a refreshed lobby, giving this practical chain hotel more appeal than a basic highway stop.

The trade-offs are worth knowing. Breakfast at the Bistro costs extra, and the location suits campus visits and driving better than exploring downtown on foot. Some guests report highway noise, so light sleepers should request a room away from I-90. There’s an indoor pool and gym, but we’d choose this for convenience and dependable basics rather than a pool-focused family break.

  • Best for: University at Albany visitors; business travelers; road-trip overnight stops

  • Watch out for: Highway noise in some rooms; Breakfast costs extra; Not a downtown walking base

  • Location: Across from the university and convenient to I-90; better suited to drivers than downtown sightseeing on foot.

  • Rooms: Redesigned rooms draw praise for space and comfort; request one away from the highway.

  • Cleanliness: A consistent strength in recent Expedia reviews, supported by positive feedback elsewhere.

  • Service: Friendly, helpful staff are the clearest recurring highlight across review sites.

  • Amenities: Indoor pool, 24-hour gym, free Wi-Fi and a Bistro serving breakfast and dinner.

  • Fees and surprises: On-site parking is free; breakfast is extra, and pets are not accepted except service animals.
