Axel's take: 8.7/10

A strong family beach resort, with warmer service than cutting-edge rooms. An alcohol-free, family-focused five-star beach resort on Abu Dhabi’s western Corniche, scored for what it is.

Khalidiya Palace Rayhaan is an alcohol-free five-star city resort that makes most sense for families wanting beach time alongside Abu Dhabi sightseeing. Its large pool, private beach and children’s facilities are substantial strengths. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise spacious rooms, helpful staff and housekeeping, while Booking.com’s strong overall ratings reinforce the picture. We’d choose it for comfortable, family-friendly resort days rather than the newest luxury interiors.

The trade-offs are dated furnishings in some rooms, busy pool periods and a location that still means taxis for much of the city. Coral Travel’s July 28, 2026 update says the planned refurbishment of floors three to nine was put on hold; confirm its status before booking. Skip it if freshly redesigned rooms, a particularly quiet pool or cocktails are essential.

Best for: Families with children; Travelers preferring an alcohol-free resort; Beach time mixed with city sightseeing
Watch out for: Some rooms feel dated; Pool can get busy; Refurbishment plans need reconfirming
Location: Near Qasr Al Watan and Emirates Palace; taxis remain useful for wider sightseeing.
Rooms: Spacious rooms draw praise, but some recent guests find furnishings below modern luxury expectations.
Cleanliness: Strong overall ratings and repeated housekeeping praise outweigh occasional lapses.
Service: Warm, helpful staff are a recurring strength, with some uneven arrival experiences.
Amenities: Large pool, private beach, kids’ club, children’s pool, gym and squash courts; no alcohol served.
Fees and surprises: Airport transfers cost extra; Coral Travel reports the planned room refurbishment is on hold.
