Axel's take: 8.8/10

A strong self-catering base with excellent cleanliness and genuinely helpful staff. a practical 4-star serviced-apartment hotel opposite Victoria Park, scored for what it is.

Quest on Beaumont is a practical 4-star apartment hotel, not a full-service luxury stay. We'd pick it for a longer Auckland visit: in-room kitchens, washers and dryers make everyday life easy, and Victoria Park is across the road. Recent Expedia guests repeatedly praise the cleanliness and welcoming staff, matching the broader picture on Booking.com and Tripadvisor. Wynyard Quarter, waterfront dining and a supermarket are within walking distance.

The trade-offs are mostly about service style. Reception isn't staffed around the clock, so arrange late arrival ahead; parking is off-site and charged separately. Expect self-catering and breakfast packs rather than an in-house restaurant or bar. Most guests describe quiet rooms, although some report street noise. We'd skip it if you want extensive hotel facilities or the main shopping district immediately outside.

• Best for: longer-stay business travelers; couples who prefer self-catering; families booking interconnecting apartments

• Watch out for: Limited reception hours; arrange late arrival; Paid off-site parking; Occasional street noise

• Location: Opposite Victoria Park, convenient for Wynyard Quarter; the main shopping district is a longer walk.

• Rooms: Comfortable studios and apartments with kitchens and laundry; some guests find storage or cooking equipment limited.

• Cleanliness: A standout strength, consistently praised across guest-review sites.

• Service: Helpful, welcoming staff attract repeated praise; reception closes earlier on weekends.

• Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, air-conditioning and in-room laundry; breakfast packs and local restaurant chargeback are available.

• Fees and surprises: Parking and breakfast cost extra, credit-card surcharges apply, and regular servicing excludes Sundays and public holidays.
