Axel's take: 8.8/10

A strong simple stay, with comfortable rooms and a useful communal kitchen. A renovated, budget-friendly motel near downtown Lake Placid, scored for what it is.

Town House Lodge is a renovated, budget-friendly motel by Weekender, not a full-service mountain resort. It’s a strong pick for travelers who want clean, comfortable rooms within walking distance of Main Street. Tripadvisor, Booking.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the beds, cleanliness and convenient location. The communal kitchen, firepit and outdoor gathering spaces add practical value, especially for families and longer stays.

The main compromise is the hands-off setup: check-in is contactless, and Expedia lists no staffed front desk. Help earns plenty of praise, but travelers wanting constant on-site attention should look elsewhere. Check pool availability before booking: a September 2026 Expedia guest reported it out of order, with an alternative offered nearby; reopening is unconfirmed. Expedia also lists a nightly resort fee, and pets cost extra. We’d choose it for an independent Adirondack break rather than a service-heavy getaway.

Best for: Independent couples and road-trippers; Families using the communal kitchen; Travelers bringing dogs
Watch out for: Contactless arrival; no staffed front desk listed; Pool reopening unconfirmed after a September 2026 closure report; Nightly resort fee and pet charges
Location: An easy walk to Main Street and Mirror Lake, without being directly on the main shopping strip.
Rooms: Renovated motel rooms and larger suites; comfortable beds earn consistent praise, though some guests find bathroom storage limited.
Cleanliness: A clear strength across sites, including recent Expedia reviews and Booking.com’s cleanliness rating.
Service: Helpful management receives praise, but arrival is contactless and assistance is arranged by phone or text.
Amenities: Communal kitchen, firepit, free parking and Wi-Fi; confirm outdoor pool operation before relying on it.
Fees and surprises: Expedia lists a nightly resort fee; pets incur a cleaning charge and cannot be left alone. Upper floors have no elevator.
