Axel's take: 8.9/10

A strong Makati base with refreshed rooms, warm service and direct mall access. An upscale, full-service city hotel directly connected to Glorietta Mall, scored for what it is.

This upscale, full-service Holiday Inn is a strong pick for a convenient Makati stay. Its direct connection to Glorietta makes shopping and meals easy, while recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise attentive staff, clean rooms and comfortable beds. The hotel has relaunched renovated guestrooms, Flavors Restaurant and Oz. Bar, so older descriptions of tired interiors deserve less weight. A rooftop pool, gym and children’s play area round out a practical choice for families and business travelers.

The trade-offs are mostly about setting and inclusions: this is a busy commercial district rather than a retreat, and breakfast and Executive Lounge access depend on your booking. Expedia also lists a damage deposit and paid airport transfers. We’d choose it for comfort and convenience, but skip it if seclusion or boutique character matters most.

• Best for: Families combining shopping and a city stay; Business travelers based in Makati; Travelers who prefer walkable dining options

• Watch out for: Busy commercial-district setting; Check breakfast and lounge inclusions; Damage deposit required

• Location: Direct Glorietta access, with Greenbelt and One Ayala transport connections nearby.

• Rooms: Renovated guestrooms; recent guests praise their space, comfort and modern condition.

• Cleanliness: Consistently positive recent feedback across Tripadvisor and Expedia.

• Service: Warm, attentive staff are the clearest recurring strength across guest reviews.

• Amenities: Rooftop outdoor pool, gym, spa, children’s play area, restaurant and rooftop bar.

• Fees and surprises: Check meal and lounge inclusions; Expedia lists a damage deposit and extra charges for airport transfers and pets.
