Axel's take: 7.1/10

Useful for airport stopovers, but don't expect polished four-star comfort. An older, mid-range airport and conference hotel listed as four-star, scored for what it is.

Welcome Centre & Hotels is an older, mid-range airport and conference hotel whose main appeal is practicality rather than four-star polish. We'd consider it for a short Lagos stopover: airport proximity earns consistent praise, staff often receive warm feedback, and the pool, gardens and sports facilities offer more than somewhere to sleep. Overall guest ratings remain broadly positive.

The recurring reservation is upkeep. Trip.com and Google guests describe dated rooms and bathrooms, while several Travelocity reviews from 2025 report maintenance, hot-water or cleanliness problems. Other guests find rooms clean and adequately maintained, so standards appear uneven rather than uniformly poor. Breakfast feedback is mixed, and Wi-Fi complaints make it a less reassuring business base. Confirm your room category, transfer arrangements and any after-midnight arrival directly. We'd skip it if modern bathrooms and dependable four-star consistency matter most.

• Best for: Short airport stopovers; Travelers attending on-site events; Value-focused travelers comfortable with older rooms

• Watch out for: Dated rooms and uneven upkeep; Reported hot-water and Wi-Fi problems; After-midnight arrivals need advance coordination

• Location: Airport Road location suits flight connections more than a sightseeing-led stay.

• Rooms: Guests describe spacious but dated accommodation; bathroom condition and maintenance vary.

• Cleanliness: Generally positive aggregate scores, tempered by repeated room and refrigerator cleaning complaints.

• Service: Friendly staff earn regular praise, but reception and late-arrival handling are less consistent.

• Amenities: The hotel advertises a pool, gym, racket sports and gardens; breakfast receives mixed feedback.

• Fees and surprises: Expedia lists a deposit, paid airport transfers and late-checkout charges; confirm breakfast inclusion and late arrival.
