Axel's take: 8.8/10

Park-side calm and excellent staff outweigh rooms that could use updating. a traditional five-star business hotel beside El Olivar park, scored for what it is.

Sonesta El Olivar is a traditional five-star business hotel in San Isidro, and a strong pick for travelers who value quiet surroundings over fashionable interiors. Its position opposite the olive-tree park is the draw, but the service earns just as much praise. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly highlight helpful staff, thorough cleaning, comfortable beds and a generous breakfast. We'd choose it for business trips or a calmer Lima base with restaurants nearby.

The main compromise is age: several 2026 Expedia reviewers say the rooms need modernization, even while praising their comfort. This is dependable, established hospitality rather than cutting-edge luxury. Sightseeing beyond the neighborhood generally means a ride. Sonesta's website also lists the sushi bar as closed; confirm before planning dinner around it. We'd skip it if contemporary rooms or staying in Miraflores are priorities.

• Best for: business travelers in San Isidro; couples seeking a quieter base; travelers who prioritize service and cleanliness

• Watch out for: some rooms need modernization; rides needed for wider sightseeing; sushi bar listed as closed

• Location: Opposite El Olivar park, with San Isidro restaurants and cafés within walking distance.

• Rooms: Comfortable beds and generally well-liked rooms, but several recent guests want updated interiors.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Tripadvisor, Booking.com and Expedia feedback.

• Service: Repeated praise for friendly, attentive reception, restaurant and housekeeping teams.

• Amenities: Outdoor rooftop pool, gym, restaurant and meeting facilities; confirm sushi-bar availability.

• Fees and surprises: Parking is free; airport transfers cost extra, and breakfast inclusion depends on the booking.
