Axel's take: 6.5/10

Useful location and friendly staff, but tired rooms make this a cautious choice. an aging 3-star business and events hotel near Guadalajara’s historic center, scored for what it is.

HMB Guadalajara Centro, still listed as Misión Guadalajara Carlton on some sites, is an aging 3-star business and events hotel near the historic center. We'd consider it for a practical short stay, rather than a hotel-focused break. Recent Expedia guests repeatedly praise the helpful staff, breakfast and convenient location; spacious rooms are another plus. The hotel advertises a pool, gym, gardens and event facilities, giving it more amenities than a basic budget property.

The catch is inconsistent upkeep. Expedia and Tripadvisor guests describe worn furniture, tired bathrooms and uneven cleaning, alongside plenty of satisfactory stays. Several 2026 reviews also flag pool cleanliness. These are recurring reservations, not just complaints about dated decor. We'd skip it if spotless bathrooms, dependable facilities or a pool-centered family stay are priorities; location and service are stronger reasons to book than the building itself.

• Best for: short, location-first city stays; travelers attending on-site events

• Watch out for: worn rooms and bathrooms; inconsistent housekeeping; recent pool-cleanliness complaints

• Location: Near the historic center; Hotels.com puts the cathedral about a 20-minute walk away.

• Rooms: Spacious options, but recent guests repeatedly describe aging furniture and bathrooms.

• Cleanliness: Mixed: many clean-room reports, alongside recurring bathroom and pool complaints.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff earn frequent praise, though problem handling is less consistent.

• Amenities: Pool, gardens, restaurant and event spaces; the official site also advertises a gym.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast may cost extra; dogs incur a charge, and complimentary parking has limited spaces.
