Axel's take: 7.1/10

A practical central base, but noise and tired rooms limit its four-star appeal. a mid-range 4-star city hotel near Casablanca’s medina, scored for what it is.

Oum Palace is a mid-range 4-star city hotel, better suited to a short Casablanca stop than a pampering escape. Its central location near the medina and Casa Port station is the strongest reason to book. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests regularly praise helpful staff, while recent reviews also highlight clean rooms and a substantial breakfast buffet. We'd consider it for a sightseeing-led stay where convenience matters more than polish.

The trade-offs are recurring street noise and uneven room condition: recent Tripadvisor guests describe worn décor and towels, and Expedia reviewers also flag disrupted sleep. Cleanliness earns broadly positive marks on Booking.com, though individual experiences vary. The hotel advertises a hammam, sauna and treatments, but we'd choose it for location rather than the spa. Light sleepers and travelers expecting consistently polished four-star comfort should look elsewhere.

• Best for: short city stopovers; sightseeing near the medina; travelers using Casa Port

• Watch out for: street noise and uneven soundproofing; tired décor and linens in some rooms; inconsistent front-desk experiences

• Location: Central and convenient for the medina, restaurants and Casa Port station.

• Rooms: Guests often appreciate the space, but wear and soundproofing are recurring weaknesses.

• Cleanliness: Broadly positive booking-site feedback, with some less satisfactory recent Tripadvisor reports.

• Service: Helpful staff receive frequent praise, although check-in and problem handling can be uneven.

• Amenities: Restaurants, Wi-Fi and a spa advertising hammam, sauna and treatments; parking is subject to availability.

• Fees and surprises: City tax applies; breakfast depends on the booking, and airport transfers cost extra.
