Axel's take: 8.3/10

A strong convention base, but pool renovations currently weaken its family appeal. a large, upscale 4-star convention hotel on International Drive, scored for what it is.

Hyatt Regency Orlando is a large, upscale 4-star convention hotel that earns its keep through convenience and comfort. Direct convention-center connections, nearby International Drive restaurants and extensive on-site dining make it a strong business-trip pick. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean, spacious rooms, comfortable beds and helpful staff. The substantial gym and 24-hour market are genuinely useful extras.

The biggest catch as of October 2026 is the Grotto Pool and waterslide closure for renovations, with guests also reporting construction noise around terrace areas; management acknowledges the disruption. Another pool remains available, but families should confirm exactly what will reopen before booking. Resort fees, separate parking charges and expensive hotel dining also dent value. We'd choose it for a convention, but skip it for a quiet, pool-centered family escape until the work is finished.

• Best for: Orange County Convention Center attendees; Business travelers who value extensive facilities; Travelers wanting nearby restaurants

• Watch out for: Grotto Pool and waterslide renovation closure; Construction noise near terrace areas; Resort fee and separate parking charges

• Location: Direct convention-center connections and walkable International Drive dining; theme parks require transportation.

• Rooms: Generally spacious and comfortable, with strong praise for beds; request a room away from renovation areas.

• Cleanliness: Consistently strong across guest ratings and recent reviews, despite occasional individual lapses.

• Service: Helpful, welcoming staff are a recurring strength, though some guests report slow follow-through.

• Amenities: Extensive gym, spa, restaurants and 24-hour market; Grotto Pool and slide unavailable during current renovations.

• Fees and surprises: Daily resort fee, separately charged parking and costly dining; confirm construction status before booking.
