Axel's take on Saket & Malviya Nagar: #8 of 10 in Delhi, 4.1/10
Good for family routines and shopping, less convincing for a short sightseeing trip. Shopping and residential routines give it purpose, but longer sightseeing journeys and very weak value limit its appeal as a general base.
Saket is strongest when shopping, cinemas and easy meal choices are part of the plan. Select CITYWALK and neighboring malls create a substantial indoor alternative to market wandering, while Malviya Nagar offers a more everyday residential-and-market setting. The Yellow Line is useful for reaching central Delhi, provided your accommodation is genuinely convenient to a station.
Do not assume the malls sit beside Saket Metro, or that every address offers the same walking experience. For a brief monuments-focused visit, this is more commuting than necessary. Construction around Saket G Block and the Chirag Dilli approaches is another reason to check the final road access, rather than relying on a reassuring South Delhi address.
- Best for: families, shopping
- Skip it if: You have only a short sightseeing stay; You expect the malls beside Saket Metro
- Getting around: Malviya Nagar/Saket have Yellow; northern Malviya Nagar can use Panchsheel Park on Magenta, direct to DEL T1. Mall streets may need an auto; DEL T3 requires changes or a taxi.
- After dark: Malls and selected restaurants provide the evening activity; do not assume their busy interiors translate into continuous activity along the surrounding roads.
- Rates: Typical Axel rate $328 a night
