Axel's take: 8.3/10

A strong convention base with helpful staff, but parking takes planning. a practical 3-star convention hotel in the South Loop, scored for what it is.

This practical 3-star Hilton Garden Inn makes most sense when McCormick Place or Wintrust Arena is the reason for your trip. The skybridge connection is its biggest advantage, while nearby Green Line trains make downtown outings straightforward. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise the helpful staff and clean rooms. An indoor pool, gym, lobby Starbucks and rooftop bar give it more amenities than a basic business stop.

The main compromises are parking and location for sightseeing: parking costs extra, Hilton lists no in/out privileges, and you aren't in the heart of the Loop. Breakfast is also an extra unless your booking includes it. Some recent guests report rooms not being ready at check-in during busy periods. We'd choose it for conventions and arena events; we'd stay more centrally for a sightseeing-first weekend.

• Best for: McCormick Place convention attendees; Wintrust Arena eventgoers; business travelers using public transit

• Watch out for: Paid parking with no listed in/out privileges; Breakfast usually costs extra; Occasional room-readiness delays

• Location: Skybridge access to McCormick Place and Wintrust Arena; Green Line station two blocks away.

• Rooms: Generally comfortable, practical rooms; recent guests also praise the views.

• Cleanliness: Clean rooms are a consistent positive across recent guest feedback.

• Service: Helpful, friendly staff earn repeated praise; busy-period check-in can be less smooth.

• Amenities: Indoor pool, fitness center, free Wi-Fi, lobby Starbucks and rooftop dining.

• Fees and surprises: Breakfast and parking cost extra; Hilton lists no parking in/out privileges.
