Axel's take: 8.1/10

A strong Loop base with comfortable rooms, but watch the extras. a practical 3-star hotel in Chicago’s Loop, scored for what it is.

This practical 3-star in Chicago’s financial district is a strong pick for sightseeing without paying for luxury extras. Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise clean, comfortable rooms, while the location works well for Willis Tower, Lyric Opera and public transit. Included hot breakfast, in-room microwaves and refrigerators add useful value; the hotel’s Franklin on 2 restaurant and bar gives you an easy evening option.

The trade-offs are consistency and extra charges. Recent guests mention housekeeping that is not daily, occasional hallway or ventilation noise, and uneven front-desk problem handling. Several Tripadvisor reviewers also describe frustrating card holds or billing discrepancies, despite broadly positive service feedback elsewhere. There is a nightly destination fee, and connected-garage parking costs extra. We’d choose it for a convenient city break, but skip it if daily room servicing or reliably quiet sleep is essential.

• Best for: car-free sightseeing trips; Loop business travelers; opera and theater visitors

• Watch out for: destination fee and paid parking; housekeeping is not daily; occasional noise and billing frustrations

• Location: Central Loop setting near Willis Tower, Lyric Opera and rail connections.

• Rooms: Generally comfortable and generously sized, with microwaves and refrigerators; some noise complaints.

• Cleanliness: Strong overall feedback, though guests report gaps between housekeeping visits.

• Service: Often helpful and professional, but billing disputes expose inconsistent problem handling.

• Amenities: Included hot breakfast, fitness center and Franklin on 2 restaurant/bar.

• Fees and surprises: Nightly destination fee and paid connected-garage parking; check card holds and final charges.
