Axel's take: 8.5/10

Stylish, welcoming and well connected, but summer cooling is a real weakness. a design-led 4-star hotel with kitchenette studios in Enge, scored for what it is.

Locke am Platz is a design-led 4-star hotel mixing conventional rooms with kitchenette studios, directly opposite Enge station. It's a strong pick for travelers who want easy transport and the lake nearby without staying in the busiest sightseeing streets. Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise the helpful staff, cleanliness and comfortable beds. The distinctive interiors give it personality, while studios make longer stays more practical.

The main reservation is temperature control: multiple summer 2026 guests across sites describe hot rooms and inadequate cooling, with fans or portable units offered as workarounds. We'd skip it in hot weather if sleeping cool is essential. Breakfast also draws mixed feedback for its limited selection. Choose your category carefully: the standard balcony rooms have no kitchenette, and entry-level rooms and studios are a fairly compact 22 square meters.

• Best for: couples on a city break; business travelers using Enge station; longer stays in kitchenette studios

• Watch out for: recurring summer cooling complaints; limited breakfast selection; not every room has a kitchenette

• Location: Opposite Enge station, near the lake, with straightforward access to central Zurich.

• Rooms: Distinctive decor and comfortable beds; entry categories are 22 square meters, with kitchens only in selected categories.

• Cleanliness: Strong cleanliness ratings across Booking.com and Expedia, backed by recent guest comments.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are one of the most consistent strengths across review sites.

• Amenities: Restaurant and bar, daily cleaning, complimentary e-bikes and access to a nearby gym.

• Fees and surprises: Parking, dog stays and optional early check-in or late checkout carry extra charges; parking spaces are limited.
