Axel's take: 8.9/10
A strong Zion base for comfortable rooms and canyon views, not downtown walkability. A renovated mid-range lodge on Springdale’s quieter southern edge, scored for what it is.
Hotel De Novo is a renovated mid-range lodge that gets the important things right: comfortable rooms, excellent cleanliness and red-rock views. A full-property renovation was reported complete in April 2025, and recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise spacious rooms and helpful staff. We'd pick it for a comfortable base between hikes, with a heated outdoor pool, hot tub and free parking adding practical appeal.
The trade-off is location: Zion’s south entrance is about three miles away, and central Springdale’s restaurants aren't an easy stroll. Guests appreciate the Springdale shuttle stop across the road. Check whether you're booking the annex, also across the street from the lobby. Some guests report sound carrying between rooms or floors; light sleepers should request an upper-floor room. Breakfast generally costs extra, and restaurant hours can shorten off-season. We'd skip it if walking everywhere matters most.
