7.7/10
A practical Malioboro base, with friendly staff but uneven room upkeep.
Malioboro Garden is a simple budget hotel, not the full-service three-star the catalog might suggest. It's a good pick for travelers who want Malioboro's shops and food within easy walking distance rather than polished rooms. Traveloka and Agoda show strong overall ratings, and 2026 tiket.com guests repeatedly praise friendly service, cleanliness and the location. The garden and basic restaurant add somewhere to pause between outings.
The caution is consistency: Traveloka, Tripadvisor and Expedia contain complaints about stained linen or bathroom cleanliness, while some Expedia guests also report maintenance and hot-water problems. These aren't everyone's experience, but they're worth weighing. Access is through a narrow lane, parking takes planning, and there's no elevator. We'd choose it for a short, budget-minded sightseeing stay; skip it if spotless bathrooms, easy car access or step-free accommodation are priorities.
