#2 of 2 hotels in Fort Richmond & University of Manitoba by Axel's take. Fort Richmond & University of Manitoba is #7 of 8 places to stay in Winnipeg. The best hotels in Fort Richmond & University of Manitoba, ranked · Where to stay in Winnipeg

Axel's take: 7.9/10

A comfortable south-side base with good dining, but check the hot tub's status. a practical 3-star chain hotel in south Winnipeg, scored for what it is.

This practical 3-star is a strong pick for University of Manitoba visits, stadium trips and south-Winnipeg business, especially with a car. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, comfortable beds and friendly staff; the restaurant earns unusually consistent compliments too. Free parking, an indoor pool and a gym round out a useful, unpretentious package.

The trade-offs are its distance from downtown and some variation in room condition: don't assume every room has been refreshed. More importantly, Manitoba Health records two hot-tub closures for inadequate water quality, in November 2025 and May 2026; it reopened after both, most recently on June 2, 2026. We'd confirm availability before booking around it. Choose this for practical comfort, not a polished city-centre getaway.

  • Best for: University of Manitoba visitors; stadium trips; south-side business travelers with a car

  • Watch out for: Not a downtown sightseeing base; Room condition can vary; Two recent hot-tub water-quality closures, both resolved

  • Location: Convenient for the university and south-side destinations; downtown sightseeing generally means a drive.

  • Rooms: Comfortable beds and mini-fridges; recent feedback is positive, though some rooms have felt less refreshed.

  • Cleanliness: Room cleanliness is consistently praised across recent Expedia and Tripadvisor reviews.

  • Service: Friendly front-desk and restaurant staff are recurring strengths.

  • Amenities: Indoor saltwater pool, hot tub, 24-hour gym and Stadium Kitchen + Bar; hot tub reopened after two water-quality closures.

  • Fees and surprises: Parking is free; verify breakfast inclusion. Marriott allows designated pet rooms with a fee and lists no airport shuttle.
