#1 of 3 hotels in Mayfaire by Axel's take. Mayfaire is #5 of 6 places to stay in Wilmington. The best hotels in Mayfaire, ranked · Where to stay in Wilmington

Axel's take: 8.7/10

A strong family base near Mayfaire, with generous suites but some upkeep inconsistencies. a mid-range all-suite hotel near Mayfaire shopping, scored for what it is.

This mid-range all-suite hotel is a strong pick for families and longer stays, especially if you'd rather have a kitchen than a beachfront address. Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise the spacious suites, friendly staff and breakfast variety. Included parking and Wi-Fi add practical value, while the outdoor pool and courtyard give you somewhere to unwind beyond the room. Mayfaire shopping and restaurants are nearby; Wrightsville Beach is a short drive away.

The overall feedback is very positive, but recent Tripadvisor and Expedia reviews reveal some uneven housekeeping and maintenance, including missed cleaning and faulty room equipment. Some guests also mention noise from upstairs. These aren't the dominant experience, but they're worth weighing if consistency matters more than space. We'd skip it for a walk-to-the-beach holiday or a more polished, full-service stay.

  • Best for: families wanting kitchen-equipped suites; longer stays with a car; shopping and beach day trips

  • Watch out for: occasional housekeeping and maintenance lapses; some noise between floors; not on the beach

  • Location: Near Mayfaire shops and dining; plan to drive to Wrightsville Beach and downtown.

  • Rooms: Spacious kitchen-equipped suites; some recent reports of faulty equipment and upstairs noise.

  • Cleanliness: Strong overall cleanliness ratings, tempered by several recent reports of missed cleaning.

  • Service: Friendly staff earn frequent praise, though resolving maintenance complaints can be uneven.

  • Amenities: Free hot breakfast, outdoor pool, fitness center and complimentary Wednesday evening socials.

  • Fees and surprises: Parking and Wi-Fi are included; pets incur a nonrefundable fee that increases for longer stays.
