Crowne Plaza in Greenway Plaza & Upper Kirby is the lowest-cost pick. The Lancaster in Downtown Houston offers generous space near theaters, while The Post Oak in Galleria & Uptown has the largest room here. For a kitchen, choose Residence Inn in the Texas Medical Center.

Questions families ask
Should we book two queens or two doubles?
Two queens give each pair more sleeping space than two full-size doubles. InterContinental, The Lancaster and The Post Oak confirm two queens for four. The Whitehall and The Houstonian use doubles. Be especially careful at The Houstonian: its Traditional Double Queen room name does not mean the beds are queen-size.
Can we rely on a crib or rollaway?
Do not rely on either without confirmation for your exact room. Several hotels list rollaways generally but do not confirm that one fits their two-bed rooms. Residence Inn does not offer rollaways. The Lancaster and The Post Oak list free cribs on request; Holiday Inn Express has conflicting crib-fee information. Reserve any essential crib before arrival.
Does a room for four always cost more than a room for two?
No. A four-person room can be close to the cheapest two-person option, and sometimes less, depending on the night and room category. The Lancaster has a more noticeable upgrade premium than InterContinental. Compare the complete booking terms: parking, breakfast for all four and extra fees can change which hotel is the better value.
Which Houston neighborhood works best for a family sharing one room?
The Texas Medical Center works for hospital visits, Rice and trips to Hermann Park; InterContinental also has nearby METRORail. Downtown suits theaters and major event venues. Montrose offers the Menil Collection and neighborhood dining. NRG Park suits stadium trips, while Galleria & Uptown is better for shopping or resort time, usually with a car.
Does booking a suite give the children a separate sleeping area?
Not necessarily. Comfort Suites has a one-room layout with only a partial divider. Residence Inn's studio adds a kitchen and sofa bed, but it is still a shared sleeping space. For breathing room without a separate bedroom, The Lancaster's 500-square-foot room and The Post Oak's 526-square-foot room are stronger choices.
