Questions families ask
Should we book two queens or two doubles?
Two queens give each pair more sharing space. Royal Plaza and The Park Lane confirm this layout. Page148, JW Marriott and Holiday Inn Golden Mile list two doubles instead. For children who prefer separate beds, Cordis has a queen and two singles. Bed descriptions differ at Dorsett and both Metropark hotels, so confirm dimensions before booking.
Can we add a crib or rollaway to a room for four?
Don’t assume a room that sleeps four can take another bed. Page148 offers neither cribs nor rollaways. Royal Plaza, JW Marriott and Dorsett list free cribs on request, but availability still needs checking. Several hotels advertise paid rollaways without confirming permission in the family category. Confirm both the room’s occupancy limit and space before relying on one.
How much more does a room for four cost?
The increase varies considerably: a four-person room can be only modestly above the cheapest room for two, or more than double it. Royal Plaza and JW Marriott show relatively small increases, while Page148 and Cordis show larger jumps. Compare the final four-person booking total, including breakfast and any requested extras, rather than assuming the cheapest double room can accommodate everyone.
Which neighborhoods work best for a family sightseeing trip?
Tsim Sha Tsui puts waterfront sights, shopping and MTR access close together; Holiday Inn Golden Mile is a practical base. Admiralty offers JW Marriott’s direct station and mall connections. Mong Kok suits markets and shopping, with Cordis especially convenient for the MTR. Causeway Bay offers Victoria Park, while Sai Ying Pun combines Eco Tree’s larger suite with nearby trains, trams and restaurants.
How much space will four people actually have?
The compact options are genuinely tight: both Metropark family rooms are about 258 square feet, and Page148 offers 280. Royal Plaza has 355, The Park Lane 366 and Cordis 410. Eco Tree’s Premier Suite provides considerably more at 630 square feet. All these layouts use regular beds rather than requiring a sofa bed to be opened each night.
