Questions families ask
Will we get two queen beds or two doubles?
Most of these four-person rooms have two queens, even when a reservation description calls them full doubles. Varscona and Metterra are the exceptions here: their listed rooms have two double beds, which leave less sharing space. Check the exact room name before booking, especially at JW Marriott, Days Inn and Royal Hotel.
Can we add a crib or rollaway instead of sharing beds?
Don't count on a rollaway: several hotels explicitly don't offer them. JW Marriott, Holiday Inn Edmonton South and Delta list paid extra beds, but permission in their two-queen rooms needs confirmation. Cribs are often free on request, though Holiday Inn Express lists a fee and Holiday Inn Edmonton South's charge needs checking. Confirm occupancy when adding a crib.
Which rooms give four people enough space to spread out?
Canterra is the clear space pick: its 750-square-foot suite has two bedrooms, a separate living and dining area, a full kitchen and laundry, although everyone shares one bathroom. TownePlace offers a 430-square-foot open studio with a kitchen. Standard rooms are generally tighter; Delta's two-queen room is just 250 square feet.
Does booking for four cost much more than booking for two?
It varies considerably. Canterra's four-person suite can be close to its cheapest room for two, while Varscona and Sawridge show larger increases within the same hotel. That doesn't make Sawridge expensive overall: it remains a lower-cost option here. Compare the exact four-person room, then check breakfast and parking inclusions before deciding which offers better value.
Which Edmonton neighborhood works best for a family sharing one room?
Downtown suits Rogers Place visits and access to light rail; Canterra adds apartment-style practicality. West Edmonton hotels work well for mall trips, but expect to drive rather than walk to the mall. Whyte Avenue offers restaurants and neighborhood walks, with nighttime noise a trade-off. South Edmonton generally suits families with a car and south-side plans.
