The brick pedestrian blocks of East Main Street put independent shops, restaurant terraces and performance venues together without constant driving. The Paramount and nearby music rooms make evenings particularly easy, while downtown’s LGBTQ-friendly venues give queer visitors useful gathering places rather than a separate nightlife district. This is our first choice for a general city break.
