Hotels in West Palm Beacha historic luxury boutique hotel near Worth Avenue, not a beachfront resort
8.6/10
Choose it for Palm Beach character and attentive service, not sprawling resort space.
The Colony is a historic luxury boutique hotel on Palm Beach island, steps from Worth Avenue and a short walk from the beach. It’s a strong pick for a sociable getaway: colorful interiors, Swifty’s poolside dining and thoughtful extras give it more personality than a conventional luxury hotel. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the cleanliness and warm staff; complimentary local house-car rides and beach-butler service add practical substance to the style.
The main compromise is space. Even the hotel acknowledges its compact rooms, and guests on both sites flag their size. The pool shares its setting with a busy restaurant, so expect atmosphere rather than seclusion. Service is predominantly praised, though some recent guests report uneven front-desk or poolside attention. You pay for the address and character; we’d skip it if spacious rooms, beachfront grounds or quiet resort lounging are priorities.

Best for: friends’ shopping weekends; couples who enjoy a social hotel; design-minded Palm Beach visitors
Watch out for: compact rooms and bathrooms; busy poolside dining scene; luxury pricing without expansive resort grounds
Location: On Palm Beach island, not mainland West Palm Beach; walk to Worth Avenue and the public beach.
Rooms: Distinctive, colorful interiors and premium linens; standard rooms are compact, with larger categories available.
Cleanliness: A consistent strength across Tripadvisor and recent Expedia guest feedback.
Service: Warm, attentive staff earn substantial praise, with some front-desk and poolside inconsistencies.
Amenities: Outdoor pool, Swifty’s, beach setup, loaner bicycles and complimentary local house-car rides; rides are first come, first served.
Fees and surprises: Parking and dogs incur extra charges; the beach is nearby rather than directly on the property.
