Axel's take: 8.7/10

A characterful downtown stay with excellent staff, but nightlife and dining changes need weighing. an arts-focused, upscale boutique hotel in downtown DC, scored for what it is.

Eaton DC is an upscale boutique hotel on K Street, with more personality than the typical downtown business stay. We'd pick it for its creative atmosphere, convenient location and consistently praised staff. Recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guests repeatedly highlight clean rooms, comfortable beds and welcoming service. Record players, books, coworking space and wellness programming give the design substance, while Allegory and the Wild Days rooftop make evenings easy.

The trade-offs are practical: some rooms feel compact or dim, and rooftop events can bring noise and elevator queues. There's a mandatory nightly amenity fee, plus paid valet parking. Dining has also changed: Michele's closed in January 2026, and Baker's Daughter subsequently closed; don't rely on older listings promising both. It's a strong choice for design-minded couples and convention visitors, less so for light sleepers or travelers expecting a full-service restaurant downstairs.

• Best for: design-minded couples; convention visitors; travelers who enjoy hotel nightlife

• Watch out for: rooftop noise and busy elevators; mandatory amenity fee and paid parking; Michele's and Baker's Daughter closures

• Location: Convenient downtown base near Metro, the convention center and several museums.

• Rooms: Comfortable, distinctive rooms with record players; some layouts are compact and lighting is subdued.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent guest feedback, particularly on Expedia.

• Service: Warm, helpful staff earn repeated praise across review sites.

• Amenities: Coworking, gym, wellness programming, Allegory cocktails and Wild Days rooftop; check class availability.

• Fees and surprises: Mandatory nightly amenity fee and paid valet; older dining descriptions include now-closed venues.
