Axel's take: 7.0/10

A practical budget base for exploring D.C., provided you can tolerate cramped rooms. a no-frills 2-star inn near Dupont Circle, scored for what it is.

Dupont Circle Embassy Inn by FOUND is a no-frills 2-star whose strongest argument is its location between Dupont and Logan circles. We'd consider it for a short, budget-minded city break rather than a stay spent lounging indoors. Recent Hotels.com guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, comfortable beds and helpful staff; Tripadvisor feedback also supports its usefulness for quick visits. FOUND lists complimentary lobby coffee, Wi-Fi and luggage storage—useful extras for a simple inn.

The compromises are small rooms, aging furnishings and uneven maintenance, with bathroom fixtures and televisions recurring trouble spots across review sites. Access-code instructions deserve reading before arrival: listings describe a virtual front desk, even though guests also report helpful on-site staff. There's no on-site parking. We'd skip it if you need room to spread out, consistently polished facilities or dependable round-the-clock reception.

• Best for: solo travelers on a budget; short sightseeing trips; travelers arriving without a car

• Watch out for: small rooms and dated furnishings; access-code check-in and limited reception; uneven maintenance

• Location: Walkable dining near Dupont and Logan circles; Metro stations are roughly 10–15 minutes away on foot.

• Rooms: Compact private rooms with bathrooms; recent guests praise many beds but flag dated finishes and maintenance faults.

• Cleanliness: Recent Hotels.com feedback is largely positive; broader cleanliness ratings are respectable rather than exceptional.

• Service: Helpful staff earn recent praise, but virtual reception and arrival instructions can complicate check-in.

• Amenities: FOUND lists free Wi-Fi, lobby coffee, luggage storage, coworking space and a communal fridge.

• Fees and surprises: No on-site parking; nearby parking is paid, and Hotels.com lists a refundable damage deposit.
