Axel's take: 8.9/10

A strong central base with spacious rooms, excellent breakfast and a lively personality. a design-led 4-star beside Warsaw Central station, scored for what it is.

NYX is a design-led 4-star beside Warsaw Central station, and we'd put it high on the list for a comfortable, well-connected city break. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the spacious, clean rooms, comfortable beds and generous breakfast; Booking.com's strong cleanliness and comfort ratings reinforce that picture. Bold artwork, arcade games and rooftop cocktails give it more personality than a standard business hotel.

The location suits trains, shopping and business better than stepping straight into the Old Town, roughly a 40-minute walk away. Ether rooftop bar has been closed during some recent stays, so confirm access rather than making it the reason to book. Parking and breakfast, unless included, cost extra. We'd skip it if historic surroundings or a swimming pool are priorities.

• Best for: rail travelers; design-minded city breakers; central Warsaw business trips

• Watch out for: Old Town is a substantial walk; Rooftop bar access can vary; Paid parking and optional breakfast

• Location: Convenient for Central station, shopping and transit; less immediate for Old Town sightseeing.

• Rooms: Modern, spacious and comfortable according to guests; request a view rather than assuming one.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent reviews and major booking-site ratings.

• Service: Staff are widely praised as friendly and helpful, though feedback is not uniformly positive.

• Amenities: Restaurant, gym, arcade games and Ether rooftop bar; no swimming pool.

• Fees and surprises: Parking, pets and breakfast unless included carry extra charges; confirm rooftop opening.
