#6 of 6 hotels in Mestre by Axel's take. Mestre is #8 of 8 places to stay in Venice. The best hotels in Mestre, ranked · Where to stay in Venice

Axel's take: 8.0/10

Excellent transport links make this a strong base, but rooms need choosing carefully. A practical 4-star mainland hotel opposite Venezia Mestre station, scored for what it is.

Hotel Plaza Venice is a practical 4-star in mainland Mestre, not among Venice’s canals. Its biggest advantage is directly across the road: trains reach historic Venice in roughly ten minutes, making arrivals with luggage refreshingly straightforward. We’d pick it for convenience and value rather than a special-occasion stay. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise helpful staff, clean rooms and the breakfast buffet; the attached Soul Kitchen restaurant adds an easy dining option.

The catch is uneven room condition. Recent guests across several sites describe dated furnishings and tired bathrooms alongside much more modern rooms, so confirm the category and photographs before booking. Station-facing rooms can catch nighttime noise, and the surroundings offer transport practicality rather than Venetian atmosphere. We’d skip it if polished four-star interiors, dependable quiet or walking home through historic Venice matter most.

  • Best for: Rail travelers with luggage; Value-minded Venice sightseers; Short stays with onward connections

  • Watch out for: Uneven room and bathroom condition; Nighttime noise in some station-facing rooms; Mainland location requires commuting into Venice

  • Location: Opposite Venezia Mestre station, with quick Venice connections and nearby airport buses; not in the historic center.

  • Rooms: Comfort and size generally satisfy, but recent reviews show a substantial gap between modern and dated rooms.

  • Cleanliness: Strong overall guest ratings, tempered by recurring bathroom-maintenance and occasional mold complaints.

  • Service: Helpful, friendly staff are a consistent strength across sites, despite occasional check-in complaints.

  • Amenities: Free Wi-Fi, buffet breakfast, Soul Kitchen restaurant and meeting rooms cover the practical essentials.

  • Fees and surprises: City tax is collected at the property; nearby parking costs extra, and breakfast inclusion depends on the booking.
