Axel's take: 8.6/10

Pacific Club delivers waterfront convenience and worthwhile lounge perks, rather than cutting-edge luxury. Club-level rooms within a five-star waterfront convention hotel, scored for what it is.

Pacific Club is the club-level offering inside Pan Pacific Vancouver, not a separate hotel. It’s a strong five-star waterfront pick, especially before a cruise: Canada Place’s terminal is directly below, and Waterfront Station is close by. Recent Tripadvisor guests particularly praise the lounge team, breakfast and evening snacks; Expedia reviews reinforce the wider hotel’s strengths in cleanliness, comfortable rooms and helpful service. The included lounge access is the clearest reason to choose Club over a standard room.

The trade-off is polish. Some guests still find furnishings and facilities dated, and the pool area draws criticism for looking tired rather than five-star. Club breakfast and canapés are included, but alcoholic drinks cost extra, as does parking unless your package includes it. We’d choose it for an easy waterfront stay with attentive Club service, but skip it if contemporary design and immaculate luxury finishes matter most.

• Best for: Cruise passengers; Travelers who will use the Club lounge; Waterfront sightseeing breaks

• Watch out for: Some dated furnishings and pool-area finishes; Alcohol is not included in Club benefits; Parking usually costs extra

• Location: Above the Canada Place cruise terminal, close to Waterfront Station and the convention centre.

• Rooms: Comfortable upper-floor Club rooms; choose a Harbour category explicitly for waterfront views.

• Cleanliness: A consistent strength across recent Expedia and Tripadvisor guest feedback.

• Service: Club lounge staff receive particularly strong praise for warm, attentive assistance.

• Amenities: Level-23 lounge with breakfast and evening canapés; shared heated outdoor pool, hot tub and fitness centre.

• Fees and surprises: Club Wi-Fi is included; alcoholic drinks, parking and spa treatments are additional.
