Axel's take: 7.8/10
A useful sightseeing base with good breakfast, but rooms need more consistent upkeep. a large, practical 4-star beside Valencia’s Turia Gardens, scored for what it is.
Exe Rey Don Jaime is a large, practical four-star beside the Turia Gardens, better suited to sightseeing than a characterful city escape. It’s a strong pick for the City of Arts and Sciences and Gulliver Park. Booking.com and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the breakfast, helpful staff and generally clean, comfortable rooms. The seasonal rooftop pool adds appeal, though it’s small for a hotel this size.
The compromise is uneven upkeep: recent reviews describe dated finishes, noise between rooms and occasional air-conditioning or lift problems. These don’t define every stay, but they keep this from being a particularly polished four-star. The old town is roughly a half-hour walk away, so expect some bus or taxi trips. We’d choose it for practical sightseeing, but skip it if quiet rooms, fresh interiors or doorstep access to the historic center are priorities.
-
Best for: City of Arts and Sciences visitors; families visiting Gulliver Park; practical city breaks
-
Watch out for: dated rooms and uneven maintenance; noise between rooms; small, seasonal rooftop pool
-
Location: Handy for the Turia Gardens and science complex; less convenient for an old-town-focused stay.
-
Rooms: Often spacious with comfortable beds, but dated finishes and intermittent cooling complaints recur.
-
Cleanliness: Generally a strength across booking sites, despite some individual housekeeping complaints.
-
Service: Mostly helpful and welcoming; busy periods can bring slower responses and lift waits.
-
Amenities: Seasonal rooftop pool, gym, restaurant, breakfast buffet and free Wi-Fi.
-
Fees and surprises: Parking costs extra and rises during selected events; breakfast may be extra, and pool dates need checking.
