#3 of 3 hotels in Tankah Bay by Axel's take. Tankah Bay is #7 of 7 places to stay in Tulum. The best hotels in Tankah Bay, ranked · Where to stay in Tulum

Axel's take: 7.1/10

Warm staff and leafy grounds appeal, but renovation disruption makes this a cautious pick. An upscale, family-friendly beachfront all-inclusive with hacienda-style buildings, scored for what it is.

Dreams Tulum is an upscale, family-friendly beachfront all-inclusive whose hacienda-style buildings and tropical gardens offer more character than a modern resort block. We'd consider it for families who prioritize activities and friendly service over polished luxury. Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise the staff, while Expedia's overall rating remains a solid 8.0. Cleanliness generally earns good marks, and recent guests particularly appreciate the children's activities.

The immediate catch is the renovation, scheduled through October 31, 2026, with dates subject to change. Recent guests report closures affecting the main pool and lobby, despite assurances of minimal disruption. Confirm both have reopened before booking. Room condition varies, food draws mixed reactions, and seasonal sargassum can compromise beach time. We'd skip it for a special-occasion luxury escape until the work is confirmed complete, or if dependable sea swimming is essential.

Best for: Families who enjoy organized activities; Travelers who prefer hacienda-style surroundings
Watch out for: Main pool and lobby renovation closures; Uneven room condition and dining; Seasonal sargassum on the beach
Location: Beachfront amid tropical gardens outside central Tulum; better for resort time than town exploration.
Rooms: Rooms are being renovated in phases; confirm whether your booked category has been refreshed.
Cleanliness: Generally a strength in Expedia feedback, though housekeeping consistency receives occasional criticism.
Service: Friendly staff and children's activity teams attract recurring praise across guest-review sites.
Amenities: Kids' club, entertainment, dining and room service appeal; confirm pool and other facility availability during renovations.
Fees and surprises: An environmental sanitation fee is payable locally; renovation completion dates are tentative.
