7.5/10
A practical events-center base with friendly staff, but rooms need a refresh.
Hotel Topeka is an older, full-service 3-star convention hotel beside Stormont Vail Events Center. We'd choose it for an event next door rather than a polished city break. Expedia and Booking.com guests generally praise comfortable rooms, cleanliness and friendly staff, while Tripadvisor feedback is more mixed. The garden atrium, indoor pool, restaurant and free parking give it more useful facilities than a basic overnight stop.
The main drawback is condition: recent guests repeatedly describe dated decor, worn bathrooms and maintenance that hasn't kept pace. Housekeeping also draws occasional significant complaints, although overall cleanliness ratings remain positive. Breakfast costs extra unless your booking includes it. July 2026 news reported an ownership handover with renovation plans; don't assume rooms have already been refreshed. We'd skip it if modern finishes and consistently sharp upkeep matter more than event convenience.
