#5 of 9 hotels in Darling Harbour & Pyrmont by Axel's take. Darling Harbour & Pyrmont is #6 of 11 places to stay in Sydney. The best hotels in Darling Harbour & Pyrmont, ranked · Where to stay in Sydney

Axel's take: 8.1/10

A characterful city base, provided you choose your bathroom setup carefully. A small 3-star heritage pub hotel in Pyrmont, scored for what it is.

Terminus is a small 3-star heritage pub hotel, not a conventional full-service stay. We think it’s a strong pick for travelers who want character, comfortable basics and easy access to Pyrmont’s waterfront, The Star and light rail. Booking.com guests praise the beds, cleanliness and helpful staff; recent Expedia reviews reinforce the location’s appeal. The adjoining pub makes dinner and a drink straightforward, while accommodation has its own street entrance.

The crucial booking detail: seven of the nine rooms share bathrooms; only two have private ensuites, both downstairs. Upstairs rooms require stairs, and reception isn’t staffed around the clock. Some older guests reported street or courtyard noise, though others found their rooms quiet, so silence isn’t guaranteed. We’d skip it if you need full hotel services or a guaranteed quiet early night.

  • Best for: Couples on short city breaks; Travelers happy with shared bathrooms; Pub lovers exploring Pyrmont

  • Watch out for: Only two rooms have private bathrooms; Stairs to upstairs rooms; limited reception hours; Possible street and pub courtyard noise
