Axel's take: 8.1/10

Clean rooms and welcoming staff make this good value, provided you can handle pub noise. a budget pub hotel near Sydney Airport, with shared-bathroom and ensuite rooms, scored for what it is.

Tempe Hotel is a budget pub hotel, not a conventional airport hotel, and it's a strong pick for a short, practical stay. Expedia and Trip.com guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, comfortable beds and genuinely helpful staff; Booking.com's overall rating is also solid. The downstairs bistro and beer garden make meals easy, while nearby Tempe station gives you an alternative to taxis. We'd choose it for value and hospitality rather than extensive facilities.

The trade-offs are real: pub and Princes Highway noise can disturb sleep, upstairs rooms require stairs, and some doubles share bathrooms. Choose an explicitly labelled ensuite if privacy matters. One guest staying in May 2026 reported faulty door locks; check yours on arrival. We'd skip it for light sleepers, anyone needing step-free access, or first-time visitors wanting Sydney's main sights on the doorstep.

• Best for: Budget-conscious airport stopovers; Solo travelers comfortable with pub accommodation; Short stays with meals downstairs

• Watch out for: Pub and highway noise; Shared bathrooms in some rooms; Stairs only; check door locks on arrival

• Location: On Princes Highway, roughly seven minutes' walk from Tempe station; convenient for the airport rather than central sightseeing.

• Rooms: Simple, air-conditioned rooms with comfortable beds; select carefully between shared bathrooms and ensuites.

• Cleanliness: A clear strength across Booking.com, Expedia and recent Trip.com guest feedback.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are consistently praised; check-in is handled through the pub.

• Amenities: Bistro, bar, beer garden and free Wi-Fi; no lift or pool.

• Fees and surprises: Check bathroom type and arrival arrangements before booking; an isolated recent review reports payment and lock problems.
