Excellent for exploring Sydney, but the rooms fall short of fresh five-star luxury. a large, traditional 5-star business hotel near Circular Quay, scored for what it is.

This large, traditional 5-star Marriott is a strong pick if sightseeing convenience matters more than cutting-edge rooms. Circular Quay’s ferries, trains and light rail are close, with the Opera House and The Rocks within walking distance. Booking.com and Expedia guests consistently praise the friendly staff, cleanliness and comfortable accommodation. An indoor pool, gym and several dining options round out a practical city base.

The compromise is condition: recent guests across Tripadvisor and Expedia describe dated bathrooms, and Marriott’s management acknowledges that guest rooms have not had a full renovation in recent years. Breakfast earns plenty of praise for choice, but Tripadvisor guests repeatedly describe crowding and queues. We’d choose it for a first Sydney visit or business trip, but skip it if contemporary design and consistently polished five-star surroundings are priorities.
