Axel's take: 8.7/10

A strong-value Sydney base, with compact rooms and lift works to check before booking. A value-focused 4-star city hotel beside Hyde Park, scored for what it is.

Song Hotel Sydney is a value-focused 4-star beside Hyde Park, and we'd choose it for a city break rather than a luxury stay. Recent Tripadvisor and Expedia guests repeatedly praise clean rooms, welcoming staff and the included hot buffet breakfast; Booking.com ratings reinforce that picture. Museum Station is a short walk away, making this a practical base for exploring Sydney without a car.

Room choice matters: Micro rooms can feel cramped with two people and luggage, so choose a larger category if space matters. More immediately, the hotel lists lift upgrades from September 7 to October 26, 2026, and a recent Expedia guest confirms only one lift operating. Check access arrangements before booking during the works, especially with mobility needs. We'd skip the smallest rooms for a longer stay.

• Best for: Value-minded city-break travelers; Sightseers using public transport; Solo travelers

• Watch out for: Lift upgrades scheduled through October 26, 2026; Micro rooms tight for two with luggage; Limited paid parking; reserve ahead

• Location: Beside Hyde Park, a short walk from Museum Station and convenient for CBD sightseeing.

• Rooms: Modern, well-equipped rooms; compact Micro categories are the main compromise.

• Cleanliness: Consistently strong recent feedback across Expedia, Tripadvisor and Booking.com.

• Service: Friendly, helpful staff are among the most consistent guest positives.

• Amenities: Included hot buffet breakfast, Song Kitchen restaurant and bar, free Wi-Fi and guest laundry.

• Fees and surprises: Parking and guest laundry cost extra; limited onsite parking needs advance reservation, and lift works may affect access.
